On November 22, what if you walked around a movie set, meeting those who offer solutions for the Smart City of tomorrow?
A Smart City demonstrator
This is not a trailer for a film! On November 22 in Angers, the first edition of the professional event* “Fox in the City” will take place, a life-size Smart City demonstrator where innovative solutions for the city of tomorrow will be present.
Why this event? According to Yannick Bourdin, Managing Director of Angers French Tech and organizer of the event, the creation of Fox in the City was based on several observations:
- Reflection on the deployment of Smart City projects affects all communities, regardless of their size or their priorities, so it is a current topic!
- Then, the complexity of Smart City projects requires asking questions about priorities, uses of functionalities but also about the overall transformation of the city and surrounding yourself to carry out these reflections.
- Finally, there are already many prospective events where a multitude of speakers explain how the city of tomorrow could become, but no concrete event which would allow the discovery of existing solutions to encourage decision-makers to action.
- At the same time, the metropolis of Angers launched a call for projects in December 2018 to allocate 120 million euros dedicated to the deployment of the Smart City, propelling the subject to the scale of “need”.
Faced with these findings, Angers French Tech therefore decided to create “Fox In the City”: an event format allowing solutions to meet, communities looking for good ideas and facilitators (experts, consulting firms or financiers) to move projects forward: “we want to advance discussions, create links between the different actors and project opportunities” Yannick Bourdin explains to us.
Fox in the City: themes and content
To respond to the multiple issues linked to the Smart City, the solutions will be presented around 4 key themes relating to the Smart Territory:
- Energy: sustainable development, economic model (optimization, performance) and functionalities
- Mobility: urban logistics and people
- Territorial data: interoperability, governance, economic model
- Citizenship: participation, collaboration, e-democracy, communication – making it known
“For each of the four themes, we wanted to surround ourselves with expert partners to support these future topics. Our partners help us identify relevant exhibitors, define the key topics of the mini-conferences, create tour routes to illustrate particular themes and publicize the event in their sector of activity. As such, it seemed natural to us that SprintProject or our Mobility expert, on the urban logistics section » underlines Yannick Bourdin.
Other partners: Vinci, Engie, EDF, Bouygues and Microsoft.
