Meeting with Emilie Korchia, co-founder of My Job Glasses, the start-up specializing in human resources.

60% of young people choose their first job by chance or by birthceasee

The adventure of My Job Glasses starts from a common observation between the two co-founders Frédéric Voyer and Emilie Korchia, while they both have ten years of professional experience: they are challenged by the negative view of their friends on their job . Emilie Korchia tells us: “Many of our friends were unhappy in their jobs and regretted the choices they had made ten years earlier in school. This really struck us and we wondered where the problem was coming from…”

Frédéric and Emilie quickly notice that young people have a very “poor” vision of careers at the very moment when they have to make decisive choices for their professional future. How to choose a career path consciously when you have no knowledge of the multitude of professions that exist neither even those who correspond most to us ?

Based on these observations, Emilie and Frédéric gave themselves a mission: “Providing young people with tools to help them discover careers and make choices by conviction and not by birthceasee. And who better than'a professional who does the job on a daily basis for'explain and create vocations? »

The two partners launched the My Job Glasses digital platform at the end of 2015 with the aim of helping young people in their career choices by putting students aged 18 to 25 in direct contact with professionals from various sectors.

To confirm their first analysis, they discovered a DARES study indicating that in France, 46% young people leave their first job before the end of the first year. And this is also demonstrated by the First Job Observatory that they created to understand the causes of these early departures, highlighting the importance of the issue: “In France, 60% young people choose their first job by chance or by birthceasee. 41% young people of all levels do not know what to do when they leave schoolstudies. The idiotssequence of these risky choices? We find the DARES figure with presd'one in two early departures ! ". If this first experience seems like a failure for young people, the consequences are also significant for businesses: “ These departures are a huge additional cost for companies that have trained a young person for several months. » Emilie Korchia explains to us.

Raise awareness of Supply Chain professions

And the Supply Chain in all this? For several years, the sector, which has suffered from a degraded image (hard work, flexibility of work, remuneration, musculoskeletal disorders) has struggled to recruit young people.

Emilie Korchia explains to us: “ As with many sectors, Supply Chain professions are little and poorly known. However, if you don't know a profession, how can you know that it is made for you? ? "

It is in particular to promote Supply Chain professions among young people that the French company Saint-Gobain has been working with My Job Glasses since 2019: “Saint-Gobain has highlighted the Supply Chain professions thanks to the intervention of'a subsidiary CEO also Member of the Board of Directors'Administration of the group that started his career in purchasing. It was highlighted'our Webinar “A mtier d'exception !" which brought together more than 1000 young people simultaneously. The event was a real success and resulted in the recruitment of a live intern ! " the co-founder tells us.

With My Job Glasses, companies open up a privileged space for exchange between professionals and students: “Companies select among their employees ambassadors. These professionals give up some of their time to interact with students. These meetings allow students to meet the professional, discover their daily life and ask them questions. This is a very good way for them to confirm their choice of orientation. For professionals, it is also very rewarding to give time to the new generation and it also very often allows recruitment processes to start! Everyone wins. »

Supply Chain, a sector for women and men

The problem also arises regarding the recruitment of women in the Supply Chain. This very masculinized sector has difficulty removing prejudices and making young professionals dream. So much so that it is difficult to put women forward in management positions.

“The women's question raises other issues. On the one hand, they are more likely to turn to “girls” professions or less ambitious professions because they reproduce the patternmy dalready in place. Our goal is to open up the field of possibilities to them by showing them that they can consider anything. ! As such, our actions with the French Navy are a very good example of highlighting a mod role.ethem to invite young girls to say that if it works through the professional they meet, it'is also possible for them. » Emilie Korchia explains to us.

The French Navy benefits from the skills of My Job Glasses to help it in the feminization of certain professions: “To recruit women, you have to put successful women forward. These examples allow young women to identify and tell themselves that diversity is possible. Awareness begins at that moment. » Thanks to numerous testimonies and exchanges, My Job Glasses and La Marine Nationale have highlighted more than 300 ambassadors and allowed them to discover many professions that were until now very masculine (mechanical officer, clearance diver, etc.).

Faced with the ever-increasing challenge of training young professionals, My Job Glasses, which since its creation has helped young people aged 18 to 25, opened on 1er January 2021 its services for 15-30 year olds: “In 2020, we have never had so many exchanges between students and professionals. This shows a real positive dynamic that must be encouraged. This is why we opened the platform to young people aged 15 to 30 and developed public communication with JCDecaux to encourage new professionals to join My Job Glasses and share their experiences with the young people who follow us.
