It is clear that in parallel with these changes, the needs in urban logistics have also evolved with the gradual transition to clean vehicles and especially the development of a new market of urban warehouses integrated into the city and effectively connected to major centers. logistics.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>The \u201cLogistics City\u201d Chair<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For Jonathan Sebanne, Managing Director of Sogaris, this (r)evolution of real estate \"\u00a0<em>poorly known<\/em>\u00a0\" is however \"\u00a0<em>central to the competitiveness of large cities<\/em>\u00a0&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>While a body of research is being formed in France and around the world on new urban logistics born from economic and technological transformations, the \u201cLogistics City\u201d Chair, supported by IFSTTAR, Sogaris and the University of Paris-Est Marne- Since the summer of 2019, La-Vall\u00e9e has brought a new approach, combining operational empiricism and scientific knowledge, capable of enriching the way of understanding the connection between logistics, real estate and urban planning.<\/p>\n<p>Centered on the Ile-de-France region, in a comparative perspective and by putting it into perspective with real estate trends observed internationally, the Logistics City chair has a double ambition according to Laetitia Dablanc, researcher and Director of the Logistics City Chair, University of Paris- East \/ IFSTTAR: <em>\u201cPay particular attention, especially through the disciplines of town planning and development, to the question of crucial logistical locations for urban and metropolitan environments which are warehouses; and explore the impact on urban logistics and territories of new consumption and distribution trends, particularly those linked to e-commerce and more generally to digital transformations.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With this Chair, Sogaris, IFSTTAR and the University of Paris-Est Marne-La-Vall\u00e9e wish to increase academic knowledge while ensuring that operational methodological tools are provided to public and private actors in urban logistics working on mobility, urban planning, economic development and the environment.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Research axes and Program\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>The 2 scientific axes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Two lines of research are proposed: the first focus on urban and peri-urban logistics real estate; the second on trends and new consumption practices and their impact on urban logistics and its real estate.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Axis n\u00b01 \u2013 urban and peri-urban logistics real estate <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This thematic axis aims to analyze the interactions between developments in logistics real estate and the city. It is based on the analysis of the relationships between socio-economic indicators and logistics real estate in around thirty large cities around the world.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Axis n\u00b02 \u2013 trends and new practices in consumption, production, distribution and their impact on urban logistics and warehousing. <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This axis aims to improve knowledge of new practices (in particular linked to e-commerce and its recent variations) and to estimate their potential impact on the city, on urban delivery and on logistics real estate.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>The program<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Launched in the summer of 2019 by Sogaris, IFSTTAR and the University of Paris-Est Marne-La-Vall\u00e9e, the Logistics City Chair has just published a first White Paper providing an inventory of knowledge relating to the emergence of urban logistics, and presenting the scientific program of the chair as recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, a new publication will be published on the progress of research along the two axes previously mentioned.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>To join the Logistics City Chair<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For the year 2020, in line with the ambition to combine scientific knowledge and operational empiricism, the partners of the Logistics City Chair wish to open the round table to operational stakeholders, in order to enrich and accelerate the implementation of the scientific program.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The co-financing organizations of the Logistics City Chair<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>IFSTTAR<\/h3>\n<p><em>IFSTTAR, French Institute of Science and Technology of Transport, Development and Networks, is a public scientific and technological establishment, placed under the joint supervision of the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Ifsttar conducts research and expertise in the fields of transport, infrastructure, natural risks and the city to promote sustainable development in contemporary societies. UPEM and IFSTTAR will soon be grouped together within the future Gustave Eiffel University. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>UPEM<\/h3>\n<p><em>Created in 1991, the University of Paris-Est Marne-la-Vall\u00e9e (UPEM) is a public establishment of a scientific, cultural and professional nature. It is mainly located in Marne-la-Vall\u00e9e on the Cit\u00e9 Descartes, in an area where local authorities are working for controlled urban development. Since its creation, UPEM has distinguished itself by a culture of innovation by developing close partnerships both in terms of training and research with the economic and territorial world.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>SOGARIS<\/h3>\n<p><em>A long-term investor, Sogaris is a real estate company specializing in urban logistics. Developing a real estate and service offering, Sogaris is deploying a mesh network of sites for Greater Paris responding to the new needs of e-commerce and the explosion of distribution flows in the city. A private company with public capital, the Group intends to invest \u20ac300 million by 2021 to encourage the emergence of new modes of distribution in cities, more virtuous and more innovative, serving its customers and the regions.
